What is Workers' Day?
It is a day mapped out to recognize all the efforts that drive the nation's economy forward, celebrate achievements in the place of work and reflect on the importance of fair work practices and improve working conditions.
In Nigeria, every first day of May is been Nigdeclared a public holiday by Federal Government to celebrate and honor all the working class people for their zeals, efforts, time, energy and commitment towards their workplace.
While it is a day of rest for workers, it often serves as a focal point for the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), to advocate better welfare, particularly regarding the implementation of the national minimum wage and social protection of informal workers
